Atmospheric Pressure and Cholera in India
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper is concerned only with British territory in India. The records of Native States iire scarcely sufficiently reliable to be made use of. The materials available are somewhat imperfect. Death registration is rather uncertain, and mortality is our only measure of intensity of an epidemic. The weather observations, too, are not always as accurate as they might be. By these irregularities a connection,"however close between cholera and the weather, must at times appear strained and interrupted. But in spite of all this the extreme length and regularity of some of the larger oscillations affecting weather elements reuder India peculiarly suitable for the study of the meteorology of disease.

On the Relation between Atmospheric Pressure and Cholera in the Bombay Province
From the above and many similar observations in the Annual Reports, it is clear that the most important, measurable guide to the weather of the year in India is to be found in the pressure variations, more especially the anomalies (variations from average) produced by hot weather actions, and before the reversing or smoothing away action of the rains comes into play. Thus dealing with monthly u...

متن کاملCholera, Migration, and Global Health – A Critical Review
Cholera is an acute diarrheal infection caused by the ingestion of food or water contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. The causative agent of this disease was originally described by Filippo Pacini in 1854, and afterwards further analyzed by Robert Koch in 1884. It is estimated that each year there are 1.3 million to 4 million cases of cholera, and 21 000 to 143 000 deaths worldwide ...

The meteorological conditions during the period of spring transition over the Middle East and the Persian Gulf and adjacent land area is investigated. Monthly and seasonal variations of large-scale atmospheric patterns and wind aloft features at different levels were drawn from data collected from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction and National Center for Atmospheric Researches. ...
متن کاملStudy of the models of large-scale atmospheric circulation system model on intesify rainfall in Ardebil plain
Atmospheric circulation is important to determine the surface climate and environment, and affect regional climate and surface features. In this study, to quantify its effect, the classification system, developed by Lamb is applied to obtain circulation information for Ardabil, North West Province in Iran, on a daily basis, and is a method to classify synoptic weather for study area. For that p...
